The local issues.

Protecting Ottawa County Water and Farmland

Ottawa County’s farms and groundwater are the backbone of our local economy. Agriculture is part of our Michigan way of life, built on family farms, hard work, and taking care of the land.

As new industries move into our area, we must make sure growth does not come at the expense of the resources our farmers and families depend on.

    As your representative, I will:

    • Introduce legislation to protect local aquifers from excessive industrial water use
    • Require large developments to pay for their own infrastructure
    • Protect prime farmland from permanent industrial conversion

We can support economic growth while protecting the farmland, water, and agricultural tradition that define our community.

    Making Housing and Groceries Affordable.

Across West Michigan, families are being squeezed by rising housing prices, higher grocery bills, and everyday expenses that continue to climb. It should not be this difficult to afford a home, raise a family, and build a future in the community you work in.

We must take real action to lower costs and restore balance for hardworking Michiganders.

    As your representative, I will:

    • Propose zoning reforms that allow more attainable starter homes
    • Support housing options for young families and seniors
    • Cut regulations that drive up construction costs
    • Advocate for policies that increase supply and reduce unnecessary price pressures

When wages cannot keep up with housing costs, families fall behind. I will focus on practical solutions that make life more affordable and keep opportunity within reach.

    Strengthening Food Security

Ottawa County helps feed the nation, yet too many local families still struggle to put food on the table. At the same time, large amounts of good food are thrown away each year.

We can do better by supporting local farmers and making it easier to get food to families who need it.

    As your representative, I will:

    • Sponsor legislation to protect businesses that donate surplus food
    • Create incentives that make donating food easier than throwing it away
    • Support partnerships between farmers, food banks, and community groups

Reducing waste and strengthening our local food systems will help families and support our agricultural economy.

    Supporting Small Businesses and Workers

Small businesses and skilled trades keep our local economy strong. They create jobs, support families, and invest in our community.

Government should make it easier for them to succeed by keeping costs predictable and removing unnecessary barriers.

    As your representative, I will:

    • Advocate for stable energy policies that keep utility costs predictable
    • Oppose policies that require local ratepayers to fund large corporate infrastructure projects
    • Strengthen workforce training and skilled trades programs

Strong communities are built by hardworking people who invest locally and take pride in their work. I believe in responsible budgeting and protecting taxpayers from unnecessary burdens.

    Safe Communities and Accountable Government

Public safety and responsible government are basic expectations. Families deserve to feel safe, and taxpayers deserve honesty and transparency.

    As your representative, I will:

    • Support law enforcement and first responders
    • Push for greater transparency in state spending
    • Protect taxpayer dollars from waste and political favoritism

Government should work for the people and answer to the people.
