Fixing the System

We cannot solve the real issues facing our community until we restore accountability and transparencey to Lansing. This is the foundation of the changes we need. Lets get to work.

This is how we do it.

Step one. The 90 Day Guarantee:

Voters deserve results, not delays. I will push for a rule requiring every bill to receive an open floor vote within 90 days of being introduced. No more killing legislation in committee to protect special interests. Your representatives will be forced to take a public stand.

The problem: Currently, bills die in committees. Leadership prevents votes to avoid accountability. Keeping your representatives from to take a public stand on

The Solution: We will change the rules to mandate that every introduced bill must reach the floor for a public and transparent vote within 90 days.

The Impact: No more hiding. Special interests can no longer bury bills before they see the light of day. You and I get total accountability. Your representative will have to go on record with a “YE” or “NO” vote. Lansing works faster. The government will no longer move at a snail’s pace and will begin addressing the issues you sent us to fix.

Step 2. We stop elections from being bought:

Elections should be decided by voters. Not by who spends the most money. I will push for strict spending limits.

The Problem: Limits on how much people can donate are easily bypassed.

The Solution: By capping how much a campaign can SPEND, we remove the incentive for these endless money chases.

The Impact: Levels the field. Spending caps make it easier for everyday citizens to run for office. Not just the wealthy or the well-connected. When campaigns are capped at a reasonable budget, you don’t need a massive fundraising machine to compete. It brings the focus back to community connection. Anyone with good ideas can have a real path to victory.

Step 3. True FOIA Transparency:

add i n a few

The problem: Michigan is an outlier. Currently, the Governor’s office and the Legislature are explicitly exempt from the Freedom of Information Act. (FOIA) Allowing them to hide internal processes and communications from public view.

The Solution: Remove these blanket exemptions. We must bring the governor and Legislature under the same FOIA standards as all other public officials.

The Impact: Sunlight on Government. No more “backroom deals.” Public records will finally be accessible to all. Knowing their records are public will force officials to act more ethically and transparently in their daily work.
